Our Renewables and Marine management team partnered Ferguson Shipbuilders, in the successful bid process, of securing the contract, to convert a flat bed barge, to a multi use accommodation service vessel.
The client, Ferguson Modular Ltd purchased a barge known as the Miclyn 3319 in Singapore, it was towed half way around the world, to Ferguson Shipbuilders on the lower Clyde, in advance of the works commencing.
Upon arriving on the Clyde, the barge was re-named ASV Pioneer.
Our remit, was in conjunction with Aberdeen based CSL to complete the outline electrical design, and working together, with the yards personnel, carry out the installation within a tight deadline.
The barge conversion was carried out to the very high rules of ABS (American Bureau of Shipping).
Design and procurement were critical, as all had to be approved by ABS in advance of being processed, to achieve this we used our “right first time approach”.
The conversion needs were varied & interesting requiring our yard based management team procuring plant from overseas and engaging sub-contractors to commission specialist packages.
The ASV Pioneer is a charter barge which is designed, as a versatile offshore solution for use by the oil and renewables sectors it is suitable for worldwide use. The barge features 4x 60 tonne mooring winches, a 20 tonne crane, and a large working deck area, provision for a heli-deck and accommodation for 120 to 240 persons.
